The first Scania R770 V8 have arrived at TRBA-Tramotrans

Must read

As we announced during the Matexpo fair, the Peruwelz-based company TRBA-Tramotrans, specialized in infrastructure works, has ordered 35 Scania R770 V8 vehicles. The first eleven copies have been put into use. Will they help the transport arm of the TRBA group to attract motivated drivers?

“This order should help us solve an acute shortage of motivated drivers. We regularly have to idle 3 to 5 trucks due to a lack of drivers. We have not had Scania tractor units for a while, but when we asked our drivers how we could attract new colleagues who are as motivated as they are, the answer was unanimous: with a Scania V8. And that seems to be working, because the mere announcement of the order has already led to spontaneous applications from drivers from all over the country,” explains Pierre Stadsbader, managing director of the group, said.

But can such an investment be justified with arguments other than this ‘HR stunt’? Pierre Stadsbader is convinced: “We think that the TCO of these R770 V8s will be comparable to the TCO of the models they replace. Although it is a powerful V8, the consumption remains limited. We were able to determine this during a test drive with the 590 hp V8 version, and this was also confirmed to us by a colleague from the region who had already opted for trucks with a Scania V8. And I am sure that the drivers will take care of ‘their’ truck. Fewer repairs will be needed and maintenance will be better monitored – work that we carry out in our own workshop, with the support of Scania Péruwelz.”

The remaining 24 tractors will be delivered by the end of 2027, but there may be a sequel to this story: the current order is partly intended to expand the fleet and partly to replace existing vehicles. “In the long term, we want to replace all of our 4×2 trucks, 35 of them, with Scania V8s. So there will only be happy faces, because everyone will then drive a V8!”, concludes Pierre Stadsbader.
