Ford Trucks has again taken care of the F-Max and is noticeable on the one hand with the Ecotorq Gen2 engine and a considerably improved aerodynamics on the one hand.
The Ecotorq Gen2 engine was already presented at the IAA fair in Hanover, but only really comes into its own in this new F-Max: the power has risen from 500 to 510 hp and the torque has been increased to 2600 Nm. However, on the F-Max that is sold in our countries, it stays at one power level, while the engine also exists in a 450 hp version. This engine is compatible with HVO and drives a new series of rear axles through a transmission with 16 gears. Ford Trucks announces that it has also done a lot of work on electronic engine management to reduce consumption.
Appearance, the F-Max Gen2 only distinguishes itself from the first generation by a renewed grille, but there are also numerous small aerodynamic improvements. However, the most important novelty is the use of cameras instead of rear -view mirrors, an area on which the Turkish manufacturer distinguishes itself from the competition by placing two cameras on each side: one above and one below the windscreen. Thanks to these different novelties, Ford Trucks can claim that the new F-Max uses up to 11.3 % less than the previous generation.
The driver has also been thought of. It benefits from a new, thicker mattress and a renewed dashboard: the digital main screen is 12 inches and the secondary screen 12.4 inches. The driver can operate certain functions such as the air conditioning, music, radio and telephone with a speech assistant that is available in 13 languages or via a 7 inch touchscreen next to the bed. There is also a wireless charging function, a new electronic parking brake and a keyless starting function. Ford Trucks has also equipped the new F-Max with a new lock, called Max Security Lock, and an anti-theft system for fuel, called Sentinel.
