We hear that Frans Hendrickx passed away on May 3. He was the founder of the transport company that still bears his name and which won the title ‘Carrier of the Year’ in 2006. Frans Hendrickx was 93 years old.
Frans Hendrickx was a colorful figure with incredible dynamics. He had not only instilled a spirit of growth and high standards, but also given a soul to his company, which had become a model of professionalism in Belgian road transport. He started in 1956 with one truck for earthworks and started international transport in 1960. A born pioneer, he built his first warehouses in 1975, at a time when few carriers were involved in logistics. The title ‘Carrier of the Year 2006’ crowned this wonderful career, while Frans Hendrickx was still fully active at the age of 73. He remained a frequent guest at the Transport & Logistics Awards.
The honors did not take long to come for this man who also had a passion for his native region (he was a member of the Royal Fanfare Independence Wiekevorst) and for vintage cars (his collection of the Facel-Vega brand was one of the most beautiful in Europe). “Personally, I will remember him as a man who was always good-humored, a hard worker, driven by an enormous passion for road transport, and the best ambassador there is for his native region, the Kempen,” said Philippe Degraef, director of Febetra.
The entire Transportmedia team would also like to express its deepest condolences to Frans Hendrickx and extends its sincere condolences to his family and to all employees of the International Transport Frans Hendrickx & Zn company.
