Commencing the Tyre Industry Conference 2025, Ian Andrew, the new National Tyre Distributors Association chief executive, spoke about his aims to raise the profile of the association and the tyre sector. He outlined strategies focused on supporting members across the tyre supply chain, promoting innovation, and upholding professional standards. The NTDA also prioritises tyre safety, environmental sustainability, industry representation, and recruitment.
Andrew also presented findings from the first TyreCheck survey in 25 years, revealing a rise in tyres with tread depths in the “danger zone” (1.6-2.0mm), prompting a proposal to raise the legal limit to 2.0mm. By 2030, NTDA aims to reduce illegal tyres nationally to below 5 per cent, limit “danger zone” tyres to 25 per cent, and ensure no area exceeds 25 per cent illegal tyre rates.
The full video of Andrew’s conference-opening address, produced by the NTDA, is available below and on the association’s YouTube channel.
