MG Real Estate has received the permit for lithium-ion battery storage in MG Park Big Bear II in Evergem. It is the only immediately available large-scale battery storage facility in Belgium.
The logistics complex, located at the Klokkendok in North Sea Port Ghent, is specifically designed for the storage of lithium-ion batteries. The site offers flexible units from 7,600 m² to 47,000 m² and responds to the rapidly growing demand for energy storage, driven by electrification and renewable energy.
To guarantee maximum safety, MG Park Big Bear II has advanced fire compartmentalization, reinforced sprinkler systems and high-performance smoke and heat extraction systems. In addition, the location enjoys excellent multimodal access via road, rail and inland shipping, with a direct connection to the Stukwerkers Container Terminal. This enables efficient distribution within Europe.
MG Real Estate developed the project as a carbon-neutral logistics site. The building is aiming for a BREEAM Excellent certification.
