Integration of RX/SeaPort and NxtPort takes a step towards one digital port platform

Must read

Last week, the shareholders of RX/SeaPort, Port of Antwerp-Bruges and APZI agreed on the cooperation principles for the integration of the digital platforms RX/SeaPort and NxtPort. This step is part of the further digitalization of the maritime and logistics chain and should lead to a more efficient and better connected supply chain in the port.

In the long term, the partners want to evolve into one integrated platform that responds to current needs, but also offers space for the development of common applications. By pooling resources, the parties involved aim for more efficient investments in digital solutions, with respect for the individuality of different sectors and activities in Antwerp and Zeebrugge.

Generic processes, such as customs export, import and transit, will be coordinated more closely with the entire port community. In this way, the partners want to avoid parallel solutions for the same challenges. At the same time, attention continues to be paid to sector-specific needs through sounding board groups with the private port community, which will play an important role in the further development of the platform.

The operational operation and technical management of existing applications will be transferred to the new RX/NxtPort company. This ensures the continuity of, among other things, the RX RoRo and ferry applications.

The integration should create a future-oriented digital ecosystem that further optimizes logistics processes, such as customs clearance and cargo handling, both within and outside the port environment.
