Vervaeke has acquired transport company Bertout, thereby strengthening its presence on the French market. The daily activities of Transports Bertout remain unchanged and manager Francis Bertout will remain involved in an initial phase to support the integration.
Vervaeke already has its own branch in France (Vervaeke France with a fleet of approximately 65 vehicles). Transports Bertout, located in Nesle (between Amiens and Saint-Quentin), today has 70 trucks.
“Bertout specializes in the transport of hazardous substances, with a strong focus on the same product segments as Vervaeke. The acquisition is therefore a logical and strategic expansion of our offering and for Bertout the transaction means a sustainable future perspective that guarantees the further continuity of the company. This acquisition is also a perfect match between two companies that attach great importance to quality. Bertout shares our expertise in the transport of hazardous substances, works with high-quality and modern equipment and has experienced drivers from the region,” says Frédéric Derumeaux, CEO of Vervaeke. “In addition, Bertout’s location at the future inland port of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal is an important asset. This offers opportunities for the further expansion of our range of activities and intermodal logistics solutions.”
After this acquisition, Vervaeke will achieve a consolidated turnover of 175 million euros and the company will have a fleet of more than 800 trucks, more than 1,100 tankers and more than 900 tank containers.
