What’s New With Two Post Lifts?

Must read

If you plan to replace a lift or add a new one to your shop, you might assume not much has changed since you bought your last two-post lift. In reality, many updates in two-post lift technology now boost safety, efficiency and access across a wider range of vehicles.

Improved Arm Design Increases Access and Productivity

Start with the ends of the swing arms. While many two-post lifts end in a straight line, the pad receiver on the BendPak 10AP uses a stepped-down design. This approach creates a lower profile that supports a wide range of stackable adapters, including adjustable spin pads. Once the adapter sits in the arm, the stacked height fits under aerodynamic rocker skirts with ease. The design also increases productivity because you no longer need extra steps to raise the vehicle just to move the arms into place.

As you move down the arm, you can see another engineering improvement. The AP Series uses a triple-telescoping nested swing arm design. Inner arms retract fully through the back of the front assembly and around the arm pin of the rear arms. This layout maximizes reach and retraction, giving the operator proper access to OEM lift points on more vehicles.

Structural Changes and New Restraint Systems Improve Safety

Look again between the arm and the carriage. On the 10AP, you will notice something missing. Many older two-post lifts place a steel barrier in this area. BendPak removed that barrier by strengthening the arms themselves. This change improves access around the lift and reduces interference.

At the arm connection point, you will see another industry first: the Automatic Swing Arm Restraint System, or ASARS. Operators often experience shifting arms on traditional lifts due to loading force or misalignment. ASARS addresses that problem. Instead of half-moon gears, BendPak doubled the system. ASARS uses 360 degrees of forged steel teeth—64 teeth total—to deliver ten times more holding power. This design prevents backlash, shifting or play under load.

Hidden Upgrades Support Strength and Longevity

These are only a few of the visible updates. Manufacturers also increased their use of high-strength steel in critical load-holding components. These materials improve durability and support heavier vehicles. Safety lock systems have also evolved, with more automatic and user-friendly mechanisms now standard.

When you shop for your next lift, do not overlook how far two-post lift technology has come. Modern designs offer meaningful gains in safety, accuracy and efficiency.
