UK tyre safety charity TyreSafe has welcomed the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders’ (SMMT) announcement on self-driving vehicles, while cautioning stakeholders that well-maintained tyres are a “foundational” necessity for the proper functioning of all Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and fully autonomous transportation. The SMMT has highlighted Britain’s fast-lane position for self-driving vehicles, acknowledging the profound potential this technology holds for enhancing road safety and reducing collisions.
