Must read

Targa Telematics, a global leader in Artificial Intelligence of Things solutions for connected mobility, has announced the appointment of Adam Gooch as its new UK director of insurance. In this role, Gooch will lead the company’s InsurTech strategy in the UK and drive the expansion of its insurance offering as demand for connected and data‑driven solutions continues to grow. This growth is being fuelled by the increasing use of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) data across insurance, fleet, and wider commercial vehicle markets.

Gooch brings more than 20 years of experience from across the insurance ecosystem, including senior roles within telematics and InsurTech providers, legal services, and major insurers. He has a strong track record of launching new products, scaling business units, developing insurer relationships and leading operations, marketing and product development.

Targa Telematics serves major global clients in both the insurance and fleet sectors and provides advanced solutions such as driving‑based risk profiling, accident reconstruction, claims management and anti‑fraud technology. It also supports insurers in deploying usage‑based insurance and emerging mobility models. In 2025, the company received Frost & Sullivan’s European Market Leadership Award, recognising the strength, scalability and innovation of its digital platforms.

“Now is the moment for advanced telematics solutions to truly transform the UK insurance sector. As insurers and fleet operators face increasing pressure to control costs, protect customer data and enhance efficiency, the need for innovative, data-driven solutions has never been higher,” said Chris Horbowyj, UK commercial director at Targa Telematics. “The appointment of a seasoned professional like Adam will significantly strengthen Targa Telematics’ offering and capabilities in the insurance segment. His deep market knowledge, combined with a relentless commitment to results, will be instrumental in further elevating our strategy and expanding our footprint in the growing UK insurance market.”

Gooch said he is excited to join the business at a pivotal time and looks forward to helping UK insurers unlock the full potential of OEM and telematics‑enabled insurance. “With its global presence, state-of-the-art technology and industry-leading expertise, Targa Telematics is ideally placed to lead the next chapter in the InsurTech sector and bring significant advantages from merging trends and learnings from Europe to the UK. Moreover, Targa Telematics is one of the few players that can really leverage OEM data to create best-in-class services, and I believe we can deliver major value not only to the connected insurance industry but also standard markets. I am thrilled to join the company at such a pivotal moment and look forward to building on its numerous strengths to help insurers unlock the full potential of OEM and telematics-enabled insurance.”
