It was close, but Schmitz Cargobull, which had been leading for months, retained its leading position on the Belgian towed equipment market, despite a decline in sales. The most important outsider was Krone, but his final sprint was not enough to take first place⦠with a difference of only four units.
This ranking shows how much the major German manufacturers have benefited from Van Hool’s strategic repositioning after its bankruptcy in 2024. In a market that fell overall by 6.81% (5,013 semi-trailers were registered), Schmitz and Krone together achieved a semi-trailer sales of one in three in 2025. Behind this duo, KƤssbohrer made good progress, but failed to lose third place. snack on A&D, which remains the largest Belgian manufacturer. Other notable increases are due to Chereau and D-Tec, whose number of registrations simply doubled in one year.
And Van Hool?
Van Hool registered 161 semi-trailers in 2025. This is of course much less than in 2024, but this does not yet reflect the actual position of the Belgian manufacturer, because tarpaulin semi-trailers were still registered at the beginning of the year. All other Belgian manufacturers are declining, whether it is Hoet Trailers, Stas or to a lesser extent the Faymonville group.
