Industry veteran Mike Barker to lead Swisslog Americas

Must read

Warehouse automation technology provider Swisslog has named a new chief for the Swiss company’s operations in the U.S., saying industry veteran Mike Barker will be its president and CEO of Swisslog Americas.

Barker had previously worked at Swisslog as Vice President of Consumer Goods in 2021, before working several years at logistics tech vendor Berkshire Grey. His additional past industry experience includes leadership roles at Intelligrated, Deposco, and Descartes Systems Group. Barker replaces outgoing president and CEO Sean Wallingford, who accomplished record-setting growth and established new customer partnerships in the region, Swisslog said.

In his new role, Barker has been charged with driving the company’s growth in the Americas and key industries, bringing renewed focus to evolving and enhancing Swisslog’s SynQ warehouse management system, (WMS) software, enhancing the company’s integrated solutions, and developing strategies for further AI integration into Swisslog’s portfolio of robotics and software solutions.

“Swisslog provides innovative value to customers through the power of integration, the physical aspect of uniting multiple solutions on a single platform and the software aspect of providing a single point of control for managing the various subsystems that go into the solution. Our ability to deliver smart automation and collaborate closely with customers is unmatched,” Barker said in a release. “I’m excited to rejoin the company and eager to build on these strengths to increase our market share and bring further innovation to our automation solutions and software to help our customers continue to meet the needs of their evolving supply chains.”
