Droppr is a new one Platform that wants to provide an answer to the poor filling rate of trucks. DropPR is initially launched in the Mechelen-Antwerp region.
“The average loading rate of a distribution car in Belgium is only 48 percent according to figures that have been communicated to us by Febetra and that take the return journeys into account. One in five return journeys is completely empty,” says Sanjay Aerts, co-founder of Droppr. “”These inefficiencies cost companies money, and that realization led to the establishment of Droppr. ”
“DropPR is a digital matching platform that connects senders directly with transporters who still have room on their trucks. Our system provides an automatic match with those transporters, they receive a notification and determine whether they then take the goods with us. We focus on groupage, not at full fries. For example, existing empty meters are smartly filled. For transporters, this means a higher filling level and extra turnover on processes that are already being driven anyway. And VOOR Senders results in lower shipping costs, because they only pay for the space they use effectively, “says Lennert Moens, founder of Droppr. “DropPR is also an asset for cities that are struggling with congestion and ecological pressure. By bundling journeys more efficiently, fewer trucks run for the same volume of goods. Droppr works closely with different cities in the start -up region and actively consults with sector organizations to widely anchor the initiative.”
At first glance, DropPR looks like a freight fair, but there are still a number of major differences. “The system determines the price on the basis of parameters of the goods, making it only interesting for transporters in the area to guarantee that efficiency. See it a bit as the Tinder of Transport,” Sanjay Aerts. Another difference is the screening of companies that are admitted to the platform. Currently this is still done in a traditional way. “”Lennert and I do the screening of transporters and ask all documents before an account can be registered to guarantee the safety of the platform. Because of this we distinguish ourselves from the freight fairs, “said Sanjay Aerts. We are also testing with TMS platforms to make a connection via API and to automatically get shipments in the route planning. ”
