There have been questions over the future role of the Avon tyre brand within the wider Goodyear portfolio for around three years now. However, as our German colleagues reported on 4 February, a decision has finally been made. The Avon brand has been part of the Goodyear stable since Goodyear’s spring 2021 acquisition of Cooper. By spring 2023, it had been initially announced that Avon would become solely a motorcycle tyre brand. There was then a denial from the corporation, or rather the statement that passenger car and van tyres with the Avon logo on the sidewall would continue to be available. Doubts about this were fuelled by another Goodyear publication on the positioning of the group brands that appeared shortly thereafter, in which the name Avon no longer appeared at all. Since then, there has been silence on the matter – until now.
