Scania Belgium has awarded two MyScania Golden Awards to Davy De Ceuster and Steven Speltinckx, respectively owner and fleet manager of the Ceuster NV in Geel. The reason? An exemplary decrease in the consumption of the nine Scania XTs in their fleet, which is all the more remarkable because the vehicles run their PTO for hours on construction sites.
The MyScania Awards reward companies that succeed in significantly reducing the consumption of their fleet, in particular thanks to the Scania Driver Evaluation program. With a Golden Award, De Ceuster has therefore reached the highest performance level, the result of a well -considered approach. In collaboration with Davy De Ceuster, Steven Speltinckx has drawn up a plan for change management. “The goal was not to let the drivers compete with each other to lower consumption,” he explains. “That is not a healthy situation and moreover it is difficult to compare the consumption. The assignments are very different: long or short journeys, light or heavy loads, deliveries in the city or on a muddy construction site in the countryside, number of PTO hours for the crane … All variables that play a role. We have therefore opted for a change in mentality and his own consumption, where we have been used to do every driver.
To achieve this, individual guidance has been introduced, with weekly or bi -monthly conversations. “We analyze what the drivers do well and where they can improve their consumption. The data that can be consulted and used via the online dashboard play an essential role in this respect. Training is also an important point of attention, with internal sessions, code 95 modules for ecological driving and additional training courses given by Scania,” adds.
“Thanks to these measures, we save around 30,000 euros diesel per year today compared to five years ago. Moreover, maintenance and repair costs have fallen. Finally, these efforts fit into our sustainability objectives. This Myscania Golden Award is therefore not a goal in itself: we will continue our efforts to maintain and even improve this level.
