Yokohama Rubber Supplier Engagement Recognized by CDP

Must read

Yokohama Rubber has been recognized as a supplier engagement leader, the highest designation in the 2024 Supplier Engagement Assessment conducted by CDP. Supplier Engagement recognition reflects the company’s commitment to climate action across its value chain, it said. CDP evaluates how companies engage suppliers to address climate issues based on five areas from its climate change questionnaire: governance and business strategy, targets, Scope 3 emissions, risk management, and supplier collaboration.

This marks the third consecutive year, and the sixth time overall, that Yokohama Rubber has received this rating. The company has disclosed its Scope 3 CO₂ emissions since 2013 and has integrated supplier cooperation into its environmental strategy.

How Yokohama Rubber Earns Supplier Engagement Leader Status

As part of its climate goals, Yokohama Rubber aims to achieve net-zero CO₂ emissions from its operations by 2050. The company has also implemented the Yokohama Green Procurement Guidelines. It said it encourages suppliers to adopt and develop environmentally friendly raw materials.

Yokohama Rubber said it hosts annual CSR briefings for its suppliers to explain its carbon neutrality roadmap and request cooperation in reducing CO₂ emissions. These briefings play a central role in driving climate-related improvements across its supply chain.

Under its sustainability slogan, Caring for the Future, Yokohama Rubber continues to integrate social responsibility into its core business. From raw material sourcing to emissions reductions, the company’s actions reflect a focused and accountable path toward global sustainability goals.
