Ninatrans has been using LNG for years for part of its transports. The 18 vehicles of the fleet will now only use BIO-LNG, thanks to an agreement with LNG Drive.
“The LNG vehicles of Ninatrans Tank usually at our gas station in Heverlee, along the E40. Ninatrans has decided to completely switch to BIO-LNG and we have been able to supply them for their full consumption biocertificates that meet all European standards. This Bio-Lng is from the LNG TERXIMENTAL, Legtte-Terminalal, LNG Drive, out. Benny Smets, CEO of Ninatrans, adds: “We are focusing on solutions that we can already implement today. BIO-LNG offers immediate climate benefits and does not require a new infrastructure. This switch gives us a saving of thousands of Tons CO₂ per year, without this being at the expense of our fleet’s operational flexibility.”
Ninatrans, LNG Drive and the Gas.be sector federation are on the same wavelength when it comes to the message to the political authorities: what is lacking to introduce BIO-LNG on a large scale is a clearly supporting policy and a technologically neutral approach, where all technologies for emission reduction are assessed. “Without political boosts we get stuck in good intentions,” said Didier Hendrickx, spokesperson for Gas.be. “Many companies want to invest in BIO-LNG, but are confronted with complex regulations and a lack of political interest. In neighboring countries, a framework has been created to integrate renewable fuels into the energy transition and the approach is technologically neutral. Belgium should not miss this train.”
