Associates of freight transportation conglomerate Averitt recently presented a record donation of $1,750,001 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through Averitt Charities, the company’s charitable-giving arm. Averitt Charities is funded by $1 weekly payroll contributions from Averitt associates along with donations by the company. One hundred percent of Averitt Charities’ funds are designated for charitable efforts.
International express service provider DHL Express has partnered with the African conservation group Tusk to transport 17 critically endangered mountain bongo antelopes from Florida to a sanctuary on the slopes of Mount Kenya. The bongos were transported in custom-built crates alongside six tons of pelleted feed and were accompanied by three animal care professionals, including a veterinarian and two bongo specialists from the U.S.

Aircargo transport solutions provider Champ Cargosystems has donated the $3,000 prize it won at a recent International Air Transport Association(IATA) competition to the Emirates Airline Foundation, an organization dedicated to transforming the lives of underprivileged children across the globe. Champ’s team won the Jettainer ULD Challenge—a competition where teams develop solutions to enhance unit load device (ULD) management—at the recent IATA “One Record” Hackathon with its Luna app, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered solution for ULD damage assessment.
The PMMI Foundation, the charitable arm of PMMI: The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, has signed on as an “Alliance Partner” with the global robotics community FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) to support hands-on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education and FIRST’s robotics competitions.The PMMI Foundation is a long-time supporter of FIRST, providing nearly $300,000 in funding to support FIRST robotics competition teams in 2024 alone.
