Van Moer Logistics invests 185 million euros in Belgium

Must read

On the occasion of its 35th anniversary, Van Moer Logistics announced a new ambitious investment plan in the presence of Prime Minister Bart De Wever. A plan that is fully supported by reference shareholder Ackermans & van Haaren, whose chairman Luc Bertrand attended the event.

In his speech, CEO Jo Van Moer emphasized that the growth of the past 35 years was only possible thanks to solid and sustainable partnerships with other family businesses and loyal partners. He referred in particular to Ackermans & van Haaren: “Thanks to the participation of Ackermans & van Haaren, we dare and can think bigger. This collaboration enables us to realize smart and sustainable investments and innovations. In the coming years we want to focus even more on these partnerships and join forces to remain independent and grow competitively in a market that is increasingly dominated by multinationals.” The support of the Belgian holding company will indeed be crucial to realize the numerous projects that Van Moer Logistics has announced in the coming years.

This development plan consists of two parts: Belgium, where approximately 185 million euros will be invested in the coming years, and the international market.

Van Moer Logistics is investing in a new storage facility for dry bulk polymers in the port of Antwerp. The first 63 silos are already under construction, with a planned expansion to 450 silos in a strategic location. In Beringen, on a 260,000 m² site next to the Albert Canal, Van Moer Logistics, in collaboration with Aertssen Group and Van Wellen Group, is building 95,000 m² of warehouses and an indoor container terminal of 43,000 m² with the option of offering SEVESO storage. A new 20,000 m² warehouse will also be completed in Grobbendonk at the beginning of 2026, also in collaboration with Van Wellen Group. This additional capacity will support the growth of the DLCT container terminal on the Albert Canal. Finally, in Brussels, Van Moer Logistics plans the construction of a new 17,000 m² warehouse and wants to double the capacity of the container terminal.

International ambitions: from Houston to China

The current difficulties in the European chemical sector have not prevented Van Moer Logistics from further expanding its activities in this area. Van Moer Logistics wants to establish itself for the first time on American soil in Houston, where the current policy of the American government will lead to a strong increase in production volumes. The Antwerp company wants to acquire an undeveloped site there to develop activities according to the Perfect Flow model.

In other international markets, Van Moer Logistics relies on partnerships: with WorldEx in China, with Tanajib in Saudi Arabia and with Q-Fab in Qatar, in collaboration with Aertssen. A tender was issued there for a large-scale logistics project with a ten-year contract and employment for approximately 500 people.
