Movianto doubles pharmaceutical storage capacity in Aalst

Must read

Logistics service provider Movianto is significantly expanding its branch in Aalst, doubling its storage capacity for the pharmaceutical sector. After the expansion, the warehouse will accommodate 27,000 temperature-controlled pallet places, compared to 13,000 now. Commissioning is scheduled for May 2026.

In addition to the expansion of the existing capacity, new zones are also being set up for the storage of dangerous goods and narcotics. The site is certified according to GDP and TAPA standards, which sets strict requirements for quality, security and traceability. Thanks to this expansion, the number of employees increases from 100 to 150.

The branch in Aalst plays an increasingly important role within Movianto’s European network. The customs warehouse status allows goods in transit to be temporarily stored there without paying import duties. This makes Aalst a logistics hub for pharmaceutical products from the US, among others, that find their way to Europe, Asia or non-EU countries.

Sustainability is also central to the project. The site will be equipped with solar panels that cover up to half of the electricity needs, a heat pump with CO2 as a coolant, energy-efficient LED lighting and a rainwater collection system. The parking zones are also constructed in such a way that rainwater can seep in.

Movianto has been active in Belgian pharmaceutical logistics for 17 years. The company, part of the French Walden Group, also has a branch in Houdeng-Goegnies in Aalst and is present in 11 European countries with 23 logistics centers.
