Pioneers 2025, the annual celebration of Multimodaal.Vlaanderen, awarded three pioneers yesterday in De Montil in Affligem for their commitment to sustainable and efficient logistics. The title of Multimodal Ambassador 2025 went to Christa Sys, who connects education, research and practice to accelerate the modal shift in Flanders. ZOUTMAN and NPRC won the titles ‘Pioneering shipper’ and ‘Pioneering logistics service provider’.

ZOUTMAN was awarded as Pioneering Shipper 2025 thanks to a shift of more than 75,000 truck kilometers to rail and inland shipping. The family business now transports cargoes to Poland and France by train and opts for supply via barges from Ghent and Wielsbeke.

NPRC was awarded the title of Pioneering Logistics Service Provider 2025. The cooperative moved more than 1 million tons of sugar beets from the road to the water via the sugar corridor between Maastricht and Dinteloord. This results in an annual reduction of more than 2 million truck kilometers and a COâ‚‚ reduction of 24 percent.

Since 2020, Baanbrekers has emphasized that multimodality is not a theoretical concept, but a realistic and growing practice. The event shows how collaboration and knowledge sharing help companies move towards a more efficient and sustainable logistics chain.
