Michelin has launched the X Line Grip D tire, a new advancement in drive tire technology for North American fleets. Michelin said the tire delivers improved mileage, provides durable traction, and lasts up to one million miles with as many as four retreads.
To highlight its capabilities, Michelin partnered with television host Adam Savage for a demonstration on his show, Tested.
Michelin X Line Grip D Redefines Drive Tire Standards
“We at Michelin are dedicated to evolving tire performance through relentless innovation and ongoing technological advancements,” said Pierluigi Cumo, VP of B2B Marketing at Michelin North America. “That’s why Michelin is proud to introduce the Michelin X Line Grip D tire. This tire has the potential to redefine the drive tire standard in fleets for years to come. It is not an evolution to existing products, but something entirely different the fleet world has not seen before.”
The tire is SmartWay verified and offers 20% more mileage and 20% less rolling resistance compared to the XDN2 tire.
Traction and Technology Built In
The tire’s chevron tread design gives it wet and snow traction, Michelin said. Testing shows it provides over 90% better snow starting traction and more than 25% better wet starting traction than the XDN2.
Built on Michelin’s DURACORE casing, the tire integrates INFINICOIL and POWERCOIL technologies to enhance durability and performance under demanding fleet conditions.
“Michelin has a proven track record of delivering high-quality, reliable products that exceed performance expectations,” said Cumo. “This leap in drive tire technology brings new levels of performance to the road.”
The tire will be available in sizes 295/75R22.5 and 11R22.5.
