During the Day of Intermodality, organized by SPW Mobilité, the Walloon Minister François Desquesnes announced that he would work on a project to bring the four autonomous ports of Wallonia closer together. This announcement comes at a time when concessionaires from inner ports, unite in one association that covers the entire region.
Until now there has been an association of private concessionaires from the port of Liège, the Mupol. This association is transformed into walports and therefore welcomes all private companies that use the waterways in Wallonia. An announcement that was delighted by Minister Dequesnes, who clearly expressed the wish to see more coherence in the management of the four autonomous ports in Wallonia, namely Liège, Namur, Charleroi and La Louvière (Paco): “This will be one of the major projects that I will carry out during this regional legisature. Discussion phase between all parties involved will be clearly my intention to work on a form of cooperation between our four ports. ” The minister has not yet mentioned a merger at this stage …
