The new GXO site in Mechelen, declared Logistics Building of the Year 2025shows how scale, sustainability, automation and security go hand in hand. The GXO branch in Mechelen opened in June 2023 and is strategically located along the E19, right next to Kellanova’s Pringles factory. From here, no less than 30 to 35% of Kellanova’s European distribution is taken care of, including the Benelux, France, Germany, the Nordics and the UK. Fewer kilometers, maximum efficiency.
The building is completely CO₂ neutral, equipped with 16,000 solar panels and constructed with materials with an Environmental Product Declaration. With four units tailored to Kellanova, this is today the brand’s largest logistics hub in Europe.

Jungheinrich: the backbone of intralogistics
For the complete intralogistics setup, GXO called on Jungheinrich, which acted as a total solution provider. The result:
- 120 trucks, in more than 8 different types
- focus on Powerline devices, sustainability and energy efficiency
- a VNA narrow aisle warehouse, good for almost 100,000 pallet places
Ancra: faster loading and unloading
Automation plays a key role at GXO, and this is immediately clear at the loading docks. Three ATLS systems from Ancra ensure automated loading and unloading of pallets up to more than 1,000 kg. Where this process used to take 30 to 40 minutes, it now takes a maximum of 10 minutes per trailer.
WSI & Alphaplan: precision down to the millimeter
A smooth logistics flow starts with clear labeling and signage. WSI was responsible for the complete rollout of labels, markings and visual support of processes at GXO. Fewer mistakes, more speed. Ultra-flat floors are crucial for the narrow aisle warehouse. These were realized by Alphaplan, Benelux partner of WSI.
Boplan: safety as an integrated system
Safety always comes first at GXO. That is why we opted for a broad rollout of plastic crash protection from Boplan, a Belgian global player that is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. You will find almost the entire range on the site in Mechelen:
- safety barriers between pedestrians and forklifts
- column protection
- overhead doors on mezzanines
- protection of sprinklers, elevators, fire gates and installations
Mivas: inclusion as structural added value
Social commitment is also part of the GXO story. Kellanova has been working with custom company Mivas for co-packing activities for more than 30 years. At the site in Mechelen, 40 custom workers are active every day, guided by coaches and a coordinator.
Peripass: grip on yards and driver flows
Dozens of trucks pass here every day. With Peripass, GXO gained control over its yard and parking management. Drivers go through a uniform check-in process, while GXO has real-time insight into arrival reasons, waiting times and operational expectations. Efficiency and clarity, for all parties.
