(Video) Einride demonstrates first autonomous truck ride on Belgian public roads

Must read

Today there was an autonomous truck on a Belgian public road for the very first time. In the port of Antwerp in particular, as the highlight of the ‘Port of the Future-Autonomous Summit’ that organized Port of Antwerp bruges, also today and also for the first time. Einride, specialist in autonomous freight transport, provided this scoop with a self -designed truck.

Thanks to years of developments and data collection, Einride is rolling out its autonomous technology on a large scale step by step, after successful applications in Sweden and the US. The design of the truck is cabin -free, one operator monitors from a distance several vehicles, which offers new perspectives for cost -efficient and safe transport.

The vehicle runs completely autonomously thanks to a combination of radar, lidar and camera technology with 360 ° view. Einride monitors these transport operations via a control tower controlled by AI.

“Link between two ports”

“This project at ‘Port of Antwerp-Bruges’ is very important,” explains Henrik Green, general manager Einride Autonomous Technology. “It brings harbor logistics together with logistics by road. Thanks to our applications of autonomous driving on public roads, we can become the link between a warehouse and the port or between two ports themselves.”
