Must read

FrieslandCampina has started two pilot projects of electric transport, together with his years of partners Dematra and Transport Cools. Both transport companies drive with a Mercedes Eactros 600 exclusively for the dairy company to and from the location in Aalter.

Transcools drives to the port of Antwerp, about 320 km in the total. Dematra visits two retailers every day, plus two chep inbounds, good for around 340 km. Inputor Daimler Truck and dealers VDH and Gistelinck have intensively supervised the start -up of this electric transport at FrieslandCampina.

“These electrical transports must result in a saving of approximately 160 tonnes of CO₂ per year,” says Peter van Renterghem, manager LSP Warehouse & Distribution at FrieslandCampina. “Dematra and Transport Cools carry all investments regarding purchase and charging infrastructure on them on the site, but we are committed to working with them in the long term. Finding the right processes where we could use these electric vehicles was the biggest challenge in this project.”
