Various industry groups laud the passage of the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’

With the United States House of Representatives following the Senate’s lead, the federal reconciliation bill, also known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” will now head to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law.

Various business and industry concerns issued positive support in regards to the House passing the legislation.

The American Trucking Associations (ATA) said this legislation will support the trucking industry by providing long-term tax certainty and more flexible resources for workforce development, ensuring that the nation’s supply chains can keep America’s economy moving.

“The American Trucking Associations thanks Republicans in Congress and President Trump for moving this comprehensive tax reform package across the finish line.  Today’s vote provides much-needed certainty for the trucking industry—the backbone of our economy—to grow and thrive,” said ATA President & CEO Chris Spear.  “By passing this bill, Congress averted the largest tax increase in our nation’s history.  Neither the economy nor our supply chain would have survived such a travesty.  This is our money, not the government’s, and truckers know better than anyone how to reinvest it to promote prosperity.  Motor carriers, the overwhelming majority of which are small businesses that operate ten trucks or fewer, will now have the ability to plan for the future, continue to provide good-paying jobs, and upgrade equipment.  We commend congressional leaders for recognizing this fact and crafting this tax relief package that supports the 8.5 million Americans who work throughout trucking.  We look forward to celebrating President Trump fulfilling another promise to our industry when he signs it into law.”

What’s more, a letter sent to Senate and House Congressional leadership by the ATA’s federation of state trucking associations explained that the trucking industry is relying on Congress to enact permanent pro-growth tax policies that will support entrepreneurs, encourage businesses to invest in their equipment and workforce, and ensure long-term American economic competitiveness.

And the letter also cited other aspects of the bill beneficial for the trucking industry, including: making permanent the expiring provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act such as the 20% deduction for passthrough entities; increased exemption for the estate tax, and current marginal rate structure as well as reinstating 100% bonus depreciation; workforce provisions such as increasing flexibility for 529 plans to be used for career and technical training and extending Workforce Pell Grants to shorter term educational programs to help the trucking industry recruit and train drivers and technicians to keep supply chains rolling; and ensuring that renewable fuels for surface transportation, like renewable diesel and biodiesel, are not put at a disadvantage for aviation fuels will make sure that those cleaner fuels are available and more affordable for fleets of all sizes.

The National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC) also signaled support for the legislation passing through Congress.

“We are thrilled that the business and international tax provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill will soon be a reality,” said NRTC Vice President for International Tax Policy Anne Gordon. “We’d like to thank Speaker Johnson, the House leadership team and Chairman Smith for their efforts to ensure swift passage, and to President Trump and his team for their dedication to getting this bill to the finish line. The tax provisions in this bill establish long-term tax certainty that will allow our companies to be more productive, create more jobs, and make larger investments at home, and to be more competitive when doing business abroad. We look forward to working with the administration to ensure effective implementation of the bill and to continue advocating for policies that achieve a pro-growth, globally-competitive tax system.”

U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Suzanne P. Clark said that the final passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act is a landmark accomplishment.

“We applaud Congressional leaders for coming together to deliver meaningful, long-term tax relief for workers and businesses across the country,” she said. “By laying the groundwork for sustained economic growth and enhancing America’s global competitiveness, this legislation provides businesses the certainty they need to invest long-term—driving productivity and raising wages for workers. We commend the lawmakers who were instrumental in advancing this comprehensive legislation and look forward to its prompt enactment.”

House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) noted that the final bill includes provisions from the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to provide historic investments in the United States Coast Guard to strengthen the nation’s national and border security, as well as funding to begin modernizing the nation’s outdated air traffic control system and enhance the hiring of air traffic controllers.

“I’m proud of the T&I Committee’s contributions to this bill and look forward to the President signing it into law,” said Graves,
