Car Tyres
In our first of many features looking at the light vehicle tyre sector of 2026, we look at the broad car tyre segment, examining the prevailing trends in the highest-volume tyre segment, as well as covering the most recent product launches. The market for electric vehicle tyres remains an important consideration, though the reduced pace of the transition to electric mobility in recent years – especially in Europe – has placed renewed emphasis on the ability of tyre manufacturers to supply broad and versatile product ranges, especially in the replacement market. At the same time, prevailing economic conditions around the world have seen car tyre markets stall – or even go into reverse – in 2025, providing another difficult headwind. Meanwhile, the complexity of the original equipment market provides another headache. While the last year has been tough for business, the resilience of the tyre industry means there remain plentiful opportunities for those most able to move with the times.

Luckily, suitable products exist for every budget and riding style. In our February magazine we look at the latest two-wheeler tyres for everything from mopeds to the largest cruisers, racers and off roaders. Turn to next month’s motorcycle tyre feature for more.
