Trevor Adams of T&C Site Services highlighted the evolving nature of the UK’s £625m OTR tyre sector at the Tyre Industry Conference 2025. While technological advances like sensorisation and data analytics have improved tyre management, transitioning from reactive to proactive servicing remains challenging. Traditional business models based on breakdowns are becoming outdated, yet the industry has not fully adapted. Adams stressed the need for better regulation to protect technicians, who face significant risks in unregulated environments. He also raised concerns about the declining number of skilled technicians and called for greater recognition of their role, urging collective action to address the looming skills shortage.
