Transport Verbeken, the Transporter of the Year 2023, has taken the first steps in its electrification strategy: two Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 tractors have recently been added to the fleet. They are specially equipped for one of the major specialties of the Dendermonde company: the transport of liquid chocolate. The electric tractor therefore supplies the necessary electricity to heat the trailer.
It was the autonomy of the eActros 600 that convinced Jo Verbeken to purchase his first two electric trucks. When he was elected Transporter of the Year three years ago, he found the autonomy offered by electric trucks to be insufficient, especially because his truck combinations always travel with 40 or 44 tons. On the other hand, Transport Verbeken produces part of its electricity needs with solar panels, but mainly with a wind turbine installed on its site.
The two eActros 600s were supplied by Hedin Automotive and are the first Mercedes-Benz trucks to be added to the Transport Verbeken fleet in a long time.
