TCI Transportation bought Success NationaLease for an undisclosed sum, the company said Sept. 30.
Success NationaLease is a Kansas City, Kan.-based leasing and logistics company founded in 1960 by Hanan Wedlan. With the deal, TCI added in excess of 450 trucks and three facilities to its network.
Commerce, Calif.-based TCI ranks No. 84 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America and No. 33 among less-than-truckload carriers and No. 35 in the truckload/dedicated segment.

The deal is set to expand TCI’s operations in Kansas and Texas.
TCI said it had been drawn to Success’ commitment to the “Cowboy Code of the West” — principles such as taking pride in your work, keeping promises and putting people first.

“What excites me most is the opportunity for shared growth. We’ll adopt some of Success’ best practices while bringing in our own strengths, and customers can expect the same outstanding service with expanded resources,” Flynn added.
Before the acquisition, TCI had 1,300 drivers and 2,300 power units, a representative said. In total, the company will have a combined 1,900 employees after the deal.
