Target is shuttering fulfillment operations at an Indianapolis distribution center, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed July 16.

Approximately 201 employees are being impacted by the shift, including warehouse associates, lead warehouse workers and operations managers, as stated in the notice. Terminations will occur on Sept. 19.

Despite the fulfillment operations closure, the building’s regional replenishment work will remain fully operational, per the notice.

Affected employees are able to apply for different roles within the facility and at nearby locations, a Target spokesperson told Supply Chain Dive in an email. The spokesperson did not specify the reason the retailer is making the operational changes,

“As we continue to evolve our supply chain to deliver the ease, speed, and value consumers expect, we are adjusting the types of operations performed at our Indianapolis Distribution Center and redistributing certain capabilities to other nearby facilities,” the spokesperson said.
