Renewable & recycled: Continental aiming for 40+% in 5 years

Must read

Continental is increasing the proportion of renewable and recycled materials in its tyre production. From an average of 26 per cent in 2024, the company aims to increase this figure to at least 40 per cent within the next five years. Recycled steel and polyester yarns made from recycled PET bottles are amongst the materials that Continental is turning to, as are innovative alternatives across all raw material groups, such as synthetic rubber from used cooking oil, resins from bio-based waste materials and silica from the ashes of rice husks. The tyre maker will also utilise more sustainable manufacturing methods, such as those used in Cokoon adhesion technology.
