Port of Antwerp Bruges wants to reach young people through Fortnite

Must read

With its own game module in the popular Game Fortnite, Port of Antwerp-Bruges wants to introduce young people to the port world in a playful way. In ‘The Riftmaster’, players dive into different worlds who reflect the versatility and dynamics of the harbor.

Recent figures show that 9 out of 10 young people see no career in the port, often due to an outdated image that lingers with cranes and containers. Although the reality is much wider: from technology and logistics to IT and innovation. To break through that perception, Port of Antwerp-Bruges is now focusing on channels that young people really reach. Gaming is a logical choice: more than half of the Belgians regularly gamet, and with 16 to 24-year-olds gaming content and e-sports are even more popular than television or sport.

This week young people can try out the game during ‘Students On Stage ‘ In Antwerp (September 22, 2025) and ‘Student Welcome Bruges’ (25 September 2025). This is followed by online tournaments, collaborations with influencers and targeted advertisements. In this way the jump from virtual experience to the real port becomes even more tangible.
