Pirelli has paused production at both of its UK tyre factories due to “market conditions”. Pirelli told the BBC it stopped activity at its Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire plant, from Friday 24 October and its Carlisle site, in Cumbria, from Sunday 26 October. Both plants will be closed for six days. The factories employ about 1,200 staff, with more than 900 based at the Carlisle tyre plant.
