The new logistics center of Nippon Express is officially opened at Brussels Airport. The building of 10,000 m², of which 2,000 m² of temperature -controlled storage space, marks an important expansion for the Japanese logistics service provider.
With this investment, Nippon Express explicitly opts for Brussels Airport as a European Pharma Gateway.
The new center is part of the wider redevelopment of Brucargo Centraal, a project of Brussels Airport Company that is aimed at modernization, innovation and sustainability. The redevelopment comprises three ultramodern warehouses with a joint area of 34.000 m², including offices and a staff parking. The project strives for a BREEAM-Excellent certification and a net zero co₂-Illing by 2030. In addition, the storage capacity is increased by 30% and the share of green zones is expanded by 20%.
With the opening of this new center, Nippon Express consolidates its three existing buildings at Brussels Airport in one location. This scaling up enables the company to operate more efficiently and to respond better to the growing demand of customers, especially in the pharmaceutical sector.
