Nike rearranges Weekend Ploeg ELC, no naked fired

Must read

Nike shifts 155 weekend jobs to the weekly shifts in his European distribution center (European Logistics Campus) in Laakdal and Ham. The trade unions on the special works council have heard this today.
There would be no naked redundancies. All employees involved are offered alternatives. “Everyone who wants to stay with Nike can stay,” it sounds.

The decision is there because the working volume decreases at the weekend and weekend work entails higher wage costs. Details about the options offered are not known for the time being.

The Nike distribution center, where around 5,000 people work, is crucial for the e-commerce and retail distribution of the sports brand in Europe and Asia. The European Logistics Campus (ELC) is therefore the largest employer in the Kempen.

The reorganization fits within a broader reorganization at Nike, which is struggling with a falling turnover and profit. The company feels, among other things, the impact of rising American import tariffs and increasing competition.
