Nexen Tire announced it will supply its high-efficiency, high-performance summer tire, the N’Blue S (215/65R16 102H), as original equipment (OE) for Kia’s new purpose-built vehicle (PBV), the Kia PV5. The partnership highlights how the Nexen Tire N’Blue S optimizes efficiency for next-generation electric vehicles.
The Kia PV5 is a global PBV strategy model built on the advanced Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). It offers flexible hardware and software expansion that adapts to multiple uses—from family car to camper to business vehicle. With this versatility, Kia said it expects the PV5 to become a key model for urban logistics and the mobility industry.
NEXEN Tire N’Blue S Delivers EV Efficiency
Through this supply, Nexen Tire said it shows its advanced tire technology optimized for electric vehicle-based commercial mobility.
With the N’Blue S, Nexen introduced its Sidewall Aero Dynamic technology for the first time. This reduces pass-by noise and improves fuel efficiency, helping automakers meet European regulations for noise and fuel economy, it said. The tire’s simplified groove design enhances high-speed water drainage and improves wet traction compared to earlier versions. These advancements give the N’Blue S stable braking performance and durability, Nexen said.
Strengthening OE Partnerships With Kia
Nexen Tire said it has built global OE supply capabilities on more than eight decades of accumulated technology and expertise.
The partnership with Kia continues to grow, with Nexen supplying OE tires for electric models including the EV3, EV4, EV6, and EV9, along with global strategy vehicles such as the PV5 and Tasman.
“The supply of OE tires for the Kia PV5 demonstrates our technological competitiveness in the future mobility market, driven by electrification and personalization,” said John Bosco (Hyeon Suk) Kim, CEO of Nexen Tire. “We will continue to strengthen our partnerships with global automakers to contribute to the expansion of the future mobility ecosystem.”
