The national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline declined for the sixth consecutive week, according to data issued today by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
With a 2.1-cent decline, the national average came in at $3.476, for the week of May 12, following a 1.7-cent decline, to $3.497, for the week of May 5. This was preceded by a 2.0-cent decline, for the week of April 28, following a 4.5-cent decline, to $3.534, for the week of April 21, a 6.0-cent decline, to $3.579, for the week of April 14, and a 4.7-cent decrease, to $3.639, for the week of April 7.
Those six weeks of declines were preceded by a 2.5-cent increase, to $3.592, for the week of March 31, and a 1.8-cent increase, for the week of March 24, to $3.567.
On an annual basis, the national average is down 37.2 cents, below the 39.7-cent annua decrease, for the week of May 12. WTI Crude is currently trading at $63.54 on the New York Mercantile Exchange, up from $59.23 a week ago at this time.
