The Nike distribution center in Ham and Laakdal has a total of around 5000 employees. The declaration of intent for a collective dismissal was communicated this week during a special works council. The decision is part of the Global Technology Transformation, a worldwide restructuring with which the American sports brand wants to simplify the operation of the technology services.
The affected department includes various functions, including IT, service desk and data analysis. The information and consultation rounds will start soon, followed by more clarity about the number of dismissals.
The new restructuring is independent of the saving round that Nike announced in June. Then it was decided to transfer weekend workers to weekly shifts, without naked fired.
