Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels introduced the Baja Belted II, a modern revival of the brand’s original Baja Belted tire. Debuting at SEMA 2025, the tire pays tribute to the model Mickey Thompson himself raced to victory in the legendary Baja 1000.
“The original Baja Belted wasn’t just a tire. It was a revolution,” said Ben Anderson, senior manager of light truck and off-road at Mickey Thompson. “It featured one of the most recognizable tread patterns of its time and proved its mettle in the harshest conditions imaginable. Mickey Thompson’s win at the Baja 1000 cemented its place in off-road history. With the Baja Belted II, we’re bringing that legacy back to life for a new generation of enthusiasts.”
The Baja Belted II will be available for 15-, 16-, 17-, 20-, 26-, and 30-inch wheels, designed to fit both classic lifted 4x4s and modern custom builds. This broad range of sizes ensures compatibility across vintage and contemporary off-road platforms, Mickey Thompson said.
According to Mickey Thompson, key features of the tire include:
- Steel-belted radial construction (in select sizes) for a smoother ride and reduced flat-spotting;
- Precision-tuned tread pattern to enhance comfort, wear life, and minimize road noise;
- Deep, variable-depth Sidebiter elements that boost off-road traction and shield the sidewall;
- Classic outlined white lettering on select sizes for an authentic, vintage-inspired look;
- Wide footprint for improved flotation and control over loose terrain;
- Non-directional tread design allowing easier cross-rotation and extended tire life.
The Baja Belted II will be available through authorized Mickey Thompson retailers beginning in spring 2026.
