During the NTDA’s recent Tyre Industry Conference, Michelin’s Andrew French, B2B sales director UK & ROI at Michelin Tyres presented the case for remanufacturing in the commercial tyre sector. French discussed the recent striking decline in the UK’s retreading market, quoting Michelin’s headline approximations to illustrate this: pre-pandemic, around 800,000 tyres were retreads (or one in three TBR tyres); 2025 figures suggest that 500,000 retreads will have been fitted this year (equating to around one in four TBR tyres).
