MAN did better than Scania

Must read

The Traton group has announced some key figures for the year 2025. Pending the full financial balance sheet to be published at the beginning of March, it is mainly the commercial results of the various brands that are attracting attention.

Overall, Traton Group sales fell 9% to approximately 305,000 units sold. The most successful brand was MAN Truck & Bus, which overtook Scania with 101,600 units sold compared to 94,100. MAN sales increased by 5.8%, while Scania’s sales fell by 8%. That is little compared to International, the group’s American brand, whose sales fell by 30% in one year.

However, MAN’s figures can be divided into two categories: truck sales fell by 0.6%, while bus and coach sales saw a spectacular increase of 49%. Sales of light commercial vehicles (whose figures are included in those of trucks) rose again by 13% to a new record of 31,300 TGE. Sales of trucks over 6 tons have therefore fallen.

Sales of electric vehicles have increased: Scania has grown from 270 to 600 electric vehicles (trucks and buses) in one year and MAN from 740 to 1970 units, including 620 trucks. That said, the two ‘European’ brands outperformed Volkswagen Truck & Bus in South America (-49%) and International in North America (-3%).
