Kumho Tire U.S.A. announced that the brand earned two honors at the 2025 IDEA Design Awards, presented by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Experts recognize IDEA as one of the four major global design awards. Kumho said it celebrates creative achievements that advance global design excellence.
The manufacturer received two awards in the Professional Concepts & Speculative Design category for its concept tires “Volume” and “Origami.”
Kumho IDEA Design Awards: Volume and Origami Concept Tires
The Volume concept tire adapts its structure and functionality based on speed and road conditions. Designed for versatility, it delivers a sustainable and intelligent solution for evolving mobility demands, Kumho said.
The Origami concept tire takes inspiration from the traditional Japanese folding art. It provides maximum mobility and efficiency in extraterrestrial environments, according to Kumho.
“This recognition reinforces Kumho Tire’s commitment to innovation and design and a testament to our future-oriented design capabilities and technological excellence,” said Ed Cho, CEO of Kumho Tire U.S.A. “In addition, it further reinforces Kumho’s charge to deliver sustainable and responsible mobility solutions for the future.”

Kumho said the IDEA Design Awards recognition stems from its Technology Outsourcing program. The program is a collaborative R&D initiative focused on developing next-generation mobility tires. As part of this program, Kumho partnered with industrial design studio BKID, known for its multidisciplinary expertise across high-tech, IT, craft, and contemporary art.
