Continuing a recent string of executive refreshes, German freight carrier Deutsche Post AG has promoted the head of its DHL Supply Chain division to become CEO of DHL Global Forwarding, Freight (DGFF), replacing that division’s retiring long-time head, Tim Scharwath.

Oscar de Bok will take that new seat on August 16, leaving his former slot at DHL to be filled by insider Hendrik Venter, who is currently responsible for DHL’s Supply Chain Mainland Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

DGFF offers air, ocean and overland freight forwarding servicesair, ocean and overland freight forwarding services through a business model based on brokering transport services between customers and freight carriers. The unit has 47,000 employees working at 200 terminals and storage facilities, and moved 3.3 million twenty-foot equivalent (TEU) containers last year.

DHL leaders noted that Scharwath’s tenure had been marked by achievements such as modernizing its IT Infrastructure, accelerating digitalization, and continuously improving its services and solutions for customers, according to Katrin Suder, chair of the Supervisory Board of DHL Group.

De Bok joined DHL Group in 1999 and was Managing Director of DHL Supply Chain for several countries and regions, including Italy, the Nordics, and Asia. In October 2019, he was named to the role of CEO of DHL Supply Chain. De Bok has been appointed CEO Global Forwarding, Freight until August 2030.

Venter is likewise a seasoned hand, with more than 15 years of experience in management positions at DHL Supply Chain. In October 2019, he took on the role of CEO of DHL Supply Chain Mainland Europe, Middle East, and Africa. In this position, he was responsible for the DHL Supply Chain business in 25 different markets, focusing on strengthening and expanding the region’s growth, as well as driving standardization.

The double swap is the latest executive shuffle at DHL, which in recent weeks has also named new heads at DHL Global Forwarding—its air and ocean freight specialist—and at its DHL eCommerce Americas division and its DHL Supply Chain North America unit.
