A new study from HiQ Tyres & Autocare has revealed a significant divide in winter preparedness across the United Kingdom, with figures uncovering “low adoption of tyres designed for cold, wet and icy conditions in many towns and cities”. The study analysed tyre purchasing patterns across a nationwide sample of HiQ Tyres & Autocare centres, ranking towns by the proportion of all season and winter tyres sold throughout a one-year period. The data comes from the HiQ Tyres & Autocare Winter Safety Survey 2025, based on a representative sample of more than 170,000 tyres sold between 1 October 2024 and 30 September 2025. That figure is a sample and therefore does not represent the total number of tyres sold by HiQ Tyres & Autocare centres in the period.
