Hankook Tire Donation Sends $20K to Clarksville Youth Club

Must read

Hankook Tire has donated $20,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Middle Tennessee (BGCMT) to support the opening of its newest location in Clarksville. Officials from both Hankook Tire and the BGCMT Clarksville Club announced the donation during a community event on May 31.

The funding will help the club expand its enrichment programs and services to meet the needs of the Clarksville community.

Hankook Tire Donation Supports Local Growth and Academic Development

The Clarksville location will provide curriculum-based programs focused on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and leadership development, BGCMT said. BGCMT designed these offerings to support youth in the area as Clarksville’s population continues to rise.

“Clarksville is home to our North America manufacturing operation, and we are dedicated to supporting the community where so many of us live and work,” said Rob Williams, President of Hankook Tire America Corp. “We have seen the great work that the Boys and Girls Club of Middle Tennessee has done in the region. We are certain that the Club’s presence in Clarksville will bring important academic enrichment and community to many of our own employees’ families.”

Summer Festival Spotlights Partnership

Hankook presented the donation during BGCMT Clarksville Club’s Summer Festival, a family-focused fundraiser with entertainment, vendors, and local attractions. In addition to the check presentation, Hankook served as a corporate sponsor for the event.

“We are incredibly grateful and excited to have Hankook Tire as a partner. Its generous donation demonstrates a belief in our mission and a commitment to the future of Clarksville’s youth,” said Deidre Ward, Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee Board Member and Clarksville Committee Chair. “We have a significant need for safe, affordable, and enriching environments for the youth in our community. Hankook’s investment will directly help us establish a club where every child can reach their full potential.”

Manufacturing Expansion Aligns with Community Investment

Hankook opened its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Clarksville in 2017. The $800 million plant employs more than 1,000 workers and produces 5 million tires annually. The facility is undergoing an expansion that will increase capacity to 10 million passenger/light truck and 1 million truck/bus radial tires per year.

Once completed, the expansion will add jobs and deepen the company’s connection to Clarksville, Hankook said.
