Charleroi Airport (or, more officially, Brussels South Charleroi Airport) has put the first of a series of four Renault Trucks fuel delivery vehicles into service. These D-Wide 4×2 tractors with a very long wheelbase (4750 mm) are in fact based on trucks equipped with a special fifth wheel. The day cabin must not be higher than 280 cm, so that the truck can drive under the wings of an aircraft. Behind this cabin there is a superstructure that houses the complete pump installation. The conversion of the vehicle was carried out by ARC in Niel and the vehicle was supplied by Garage Van Hove. This Renault D-Wide will be used to supply the largest aircraft flying through Charleroi airport with JET-A1 fuel. Three more similar trucks should be delivered to BSCA. In the long term, the entire fleet of tankers at the Walloon airport could be painted in the colors of Renault Trucks.
