First electric truck Brussels Mobility is a Scania 23p

Must read

Brussels Mobility has put its first fully electric truck into use: a Scania 23P, equipped with a fixed body and a small Hiab tap, supplied by Appelmans. The vehicle will be used for the maintenance of the regional roads.

According to Ken Vansumere, responsible for the management of the utilitarian vehicles at the maintenance management, the structure was chosen to be able to work smoothly on road signs, temporary reconstruction and the relocation of heavy objects.

The Brussels Region wants its fleet-free fleet-free, in line with the increasingly strict low emission zone. “The low emission zone leads to healthy air quality,” says Mobility Minister Elke van den Brandt. “It is our duty to set a good example.”

Maintenance by Scania Huizingen

The 19-Tonner has nine batteries with a total capacity of 416 kWh, good for a driving range of approximately 300 km, more than sufficient for daily assignments within Brussels. In the evening the vehicle is charged via a new fast -loading post from the Facilities Service.

The choice for Scania was created through a public tender, in which ecological and price -technical criteria each weighed 50%. Brussels Mobility also opted for a maintenance contract with Scania Huizingen.
