Feeder One, an independent logistics service provider and wholesaler that focuses on the do-it-yourself, professional and garden sector in the Benelux, recently invested heavily in logistics automation in their warehouse in Wommelgem.
In collaboration with Vanas Engineering, the company installed nine Modula vertical storage lifts, roller jobs for the supply and removal of the inbound/outbound goods, a ran suit boxes and closer and an automatic consolidation chief with through -roller racks. “With the installation of this automation on a space of 500 m², we create space in our pallet warehouse of approximately 5000 m² that we can use for expansion of our business,” says Nick van den Eynde, managing director of Belgium of Feeder One. “More and smarter storage on a limited space: this is how we optimize the supply chain and we make the chain more sustainable, together with our producers and retailers.”
More than 65 years of experience
With the ‘One Central stock, one bundled drop’ principle as a guideline, Feeder One ensures an efficient flow of goods between more than 300 producers in an extensive network of more than 2500 retail addresses in the Benelux. The company has more than 65 years of experience in the Benelux, thanks to the mergers of Pril, AGZ, Nollekens and Massart. This consolidation provided the necessary scale and diversity to develop an independent distribution platform.
In addition to the distribution center and Belgian head office in Wommelgem (23,000 m²), Feeder One also has a warehouse in Roden in the Netherlands (17,000 m²) and a ‘headquarter’ in Houten, also in the Netherlands.
